Horse Coaches based in Canterbury, New Zealand. While our business may be situated in the small Mid Canterbury town of Ashburton, our products have been delivered around New Zealand.
Managing Director, Paul Chapman has worked over 15 years for a local bus and motorhome repair business and has been owner of Mainland Coachwork for 9 years.
Our passionate, high calibre team of 12 pride themselves on exceptional workmanship, building on time and on budget and enjoy forming strong friendships with those they build Horse Coaches for. When you deal with Mainland Coachwork your new Horse Coach will be built to suit your individual needs (no run of the mill here!) and will be built to the highest quality from New Zealand sourced products.

Executive series
Mainland Coachwork Executive Series Horse Coach delivers quality, supreme luxury, and uncompromising attention to detail in both the living and horse areas, it is truly a palace-on-wheels. Designed to comfortable carry 4 – 6 horses.
Huntsman series
Mainland Huntsman Series, our mid-range three axle horse coach designed to comfortably carry 3-6 horses with stylish living area, built for practicality without compromising on our exceptional attention to detail.
Mainlander series
Mainlander Series 2 axle horse coach designed to comfortably carry 2-3 horses. This is the perfect entry level box to allow you to take your horses away and compete then in the evening close the doors and enjoy your oasis after a long day competing
The mainland coachwork story
2014
April – Mainland Coachwork Limited opened the roller doors for the first time from a workshop on Alford Forest Road, Ashburton.
June – First Horse Float manufactured and delivered to happy customers.
November – First Mainland Executive Horse Coach built and delivered.
2015
First season sponsoring horse events.
2016
Second purpose built Carrfields Corporate Display trailer built and delivered.
2017
First Mainlander Series Horsecoach built and delivered.
Moved into our new purpose-built workshop at 19 JB Cullen Drive, Ashburton.
2018
Opened joinery division and moved all joinery work in-house.
2019
First Huntsman Series Horsecoach built and delivered.
2020
Stable fit out
Became the proud sponsors of the National Mainland Coachwork Ltd Junior Rider Series.
2021
Delivered our 25th Mainland Horsecoach to happy customers.
2022
Sold Horse Float Manufacturing side of business to Smith Floats Ashburton.
